Looks like there is some clarity regarding a Golden Boy Promotions card taking place on or around September 7th.

A special edition of Showtime Championship Boxing will take place on Friday, September 6th, Gordon Hall told Boxingscene.com Thursday morning.

Hall is the Executive Producer of ShoBox: the New Generation.

"September 6 will not be a ShoBox (telecast)," Hall wrote in an email. "It will be a Showtime Boxing Special Edition."

Hall did not mention where the September 6th card will take place.

With Showtime confirming they will telecast a card, looks like Golden Boy Promotions will promote on that date due to the relationship they have with the network.

There were rumors late last week that Golden Boy was promoting a card on September 6th or 7th at the Stubhub (formerly known as the Home Depot) Center in Carson. But that venue has been ruled out as Golden Boy searches for other locations in the Southern Cali area.

Victor Ortiz, Josesito Lopez, Chris Arreola, and Seth Mitchell, according to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, will appear on the show. Ortiz is rumored to be returning against Alfonso Gomez, while Mitchell and Arreola will battle each other.

Another fight that could appear on the September 6th Showtime telecast is a bout between former world champion Rafael Marquez and super bantamweight Efrain Esquivias.

Marquez (41-8, 37 KOs) recently signed a four-fight promotional contract with Golden Boy Promotions.

Esquivias (16-2-1, 9 KOs) put out a message on his Twitter account that he was fighting Marquez on September 6th. He fought to a second round technical draw on June 28th against Victor Sanchez.

While Marquez-Esquivias is an intriguing bout, Hall would not confirm if the fight was taking place on the card.

"(I) haven't heard (any) confirmation on (the) Marquez bout," Hall wrote in the email.
