The promoters of Polish heavyweight giant Mariusz Wach (25-0, 13 KOs) are planning to bring him back in October. On Friday night at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Wach landed brutal right hand in the fourth round to knock Kevin McBride (35-10-1, 29 KOs) out cold. McBride was taken by a stretcher to the hospital afterwards.
Wach is happy with his performance but he wants something bigger at the end of the year. The Polish boxer is rising in the ranks of the WBC and wants to face a ranked contender to move further up the ladder.
"At every moment I was controlling the course of the fight. McBride was fouling. He tried to pull his left hand and hit my head with a right hook. In the last round he was really slow and I saw his every move. At that point, I knew it was going to end by knockout, with the only issue being whether of not it would happen in one or two rounds," Wach said.
"Anyone who grows up in the sport has dreams of championship fights and wants to win. If we got a proposal for a world championship fight, then we would not hesitate to take it. But I know, what the realities are. I have to fight a few fights and showcase myself to an even wider audience. I think at the end of next year you will see me in a big fight."
