Junior welterweight Marcos Maidana quickly returned fire after reading a recent statement that was made by Victor Ortiz. In the June of 2009, Maidana stopped Ortiz in a six round war. Maidana is getting ready for a fight with Erik Morales on April 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Ortiz is moving up to welterweight to challenge WBC champion Andre Berto.
Ortiz claims that he tried to get a rematch with Maidana, who ducked away.
"Maidana is running left and right. I think I'm in his nightmares. When he gets the courage, he can meet me at 147," Ortiz said.
Maidana thinks Ortiz has lost his mind and needs mental therapy.
"Victor Ortiz says that I've ducked him? That he is in my nightmares? Is he mentally healthy? I can recommend him a good shrink. Is it just me or did Ortiz quit like a baby when we met in he ring? Victor, you better focus on Berto," Maidana said.
