Maidana: My Youth Will Beat Erik Morales' Experience

By Jhonny Gonzalez

Marcos René Maidana (29-2, 27KO's) is working very hard with trainer Rudy Perez for the fight with former three division champion Erik Morales on April 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. After December's close decision loss to Amir Khan, Maidana replaced his former trainer Miguel Diaz with Perez, who previously trained Morales' ring rival Marco Antonio Barrera.

Maidana will not underestimate the skills of Morales. The experts have Maidana listed as a heavy favorite to win.

"Perez is very familiar with the style of Erik Morales, which is why we have come here to Mexico. It is a tough fight, (Erik) is a very experienced opponent, who knows a lot about being able to move in the ring and it's going to be a good fight. He has the experience and I have the youth, and on that basis I'm going out to win," Maidana told Ramses Morales. "Erik Morales is a warrior, a Mexican legend, and if I win my career will go a step further and it's going to open a lot of doors for me."

I wonder what would be the biggest upset. If Morales can somehow beat Maidana or if Shane could somehow beat Pac. Both of these guys need a miracle.

This fight won't even be close and when Maidana blows Morales out of there, everyone will state the obvious; Morales was over the hill. YA THINK?!!? It won't be close. Morales' reflexes will prove gone. He'll be a step behind…
