WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KOs) is over the moon with receiving the biggest opportunity in boxing, as he faces WBC champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (45-0, 26KOs) in a unification clash on May 3rd, likely at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Maidana's girlfriend is due with their daughter between March 5 and 15th. Once the baby is born, Maidana plans to stay for two to three days and then he will travel to the Oxnard, California to finish the remained of his camp with trainer Robert Garcia and conditioning coach Alex Ariza.

The Argentine champion had a major victory last December in San Antonio, when he won an upset twelve round decision over previously undefeated Adrien Broner.

"It will be a great fight. Mayweather is very good, the best. It's the biggest fight you can get today. We were expecting this. I'm going to put a lot of pressure on him. I'll have to throw punches everywhere, whether I hit him or not. I'll wear him down, cut off the ring, and not allow him to do his work," Maidana said to BoxingScene.com/NotiFight.com.

"I have to do a similar job as I did with Broner, but not exactly like that - because Floyd is not Broner. They fight different. Broner at times stopped [in front of me] to fight, he was planted. Mayweather will not do that. He runs. He does not allow you to get close. And he is very fast. I'll have to cut off all that speed. I have to throw many punches, and that those that land, even if they are not [fully on target], he will feel them."

"Right now I am at my best. I think the fight comes at the right time, and it was the right choice. I feel fine, strong and secure. And Robert has had a lot to do with it. Since we're together I've won every fight, but also I feel that I am still learning. We are doing a great job."
