Manager Frank Espinoza, who guides the career of WBO super bantamweight champion Jessie Magdaleno (25-0, 18 KOs), was shocked when he read the recent statements that were made by Paul Dogboe, the father and trainer of mandatory challenger Isaac Dogboe (18-0, 12 KOs).
Dogboe holds the WBO's interim-title at 122-pounds and challenges Magdaleno for the full title on April 14th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
The contest will be part of the undercard to the welterweight showdown between champion Jeff Horn and mandatory challenger Terence Crawford.
In a recent interview with The Pulse of Ghana, Dogboe Sr. made some controversial statements - where he promised to toss Magdaleno back to Mexico and then present the WBO world title to United States President Donald Trump.
"We are focused and our only mission is to devour him, eat the crazy chicken, throw him over the wall of Mexico and present the title to Donald Trump. Magdaleno will run when he sees Isaac," Dogboe Sr. told The Pulse of Ghana.
"We hope Magdaleno will not run like a chicken, we hope he makes the weight and come in with no excuses because we are ready for him. We are ready to eat him like a chicken, make him run like a poyoloco."
Espinoza believes Dogboe Sr. has "lost his mind."
The manager is worried about the mental state of Dogboe's father and feels strongly that the situation calls for some added security.
"I think Dogboe's father is already mentally cracking under the pressure. He's never had a fighter on a stage this big. I'm worried about the guy. I think based on his recent statements, there should be random drug testing for the trainers as well. Both fighters will be tested, but I want to make sure the trainers are on even playing field. He has to be smoking something to make comments like that. I just want to make sure he's okay," Espinoza told BoxingScene.com.
"I hope he didn't make any travel plans to head over to the White House, because the WBO title is staying in Las Vegas. And the only 'running' they have to worry about, is doing the 100-yard dash back to their hotel room after Jessie knocks his son out."
Magdaleno has been out of the ring since last April, when he made the first defense of his title with an easy stoppage of Adeilson Dos Santos.
