Luke Campbell is Ready: I'm Excited To Beat Ryan Garcia!

Luke Campbell is licking his lips at the possibility of a showdown with undefeated rising contender Ryan Garcia.

The two boxers were ordered to face each other for the vacant WBC interim-lightweight world title.

The winner would become the mandatory challenger to full champion Devin Haney.

Initially Campbell was going to face Javier Fortuna for the interim-title.

But, Fortuna withdrew from the contest to take a fight in August with Jorge Linares for the WBC Diamond title.

Once Fortuna made that decision, then Campbell vs. Garcia was set down by the World Boxing Council.

Both boxers compete on the DAZN streaming service.

"I'm excited to beat this lad; he's an up-and-coming fighter with a lot of hype behind him. I couldn't do what they can do at 21 because I wasn't there physically, I was a baby; when I was 21 years old I was like a 14-year-old," Campbell told The Mirror.

"I'm 32 but I feel like I'm the 24-year-old fresh, mature fighter who has a lot to prove and to do in the sport of boxing. He looks big for the weight and he carries power, he has quick hands but that's all really, I haven't seen anything else. It's hard to judge anyone when they haven't fought anyone. I believe I'm a step too far for him. No-one has seen the best of me yet and it's coming. If anyone thought I boxed well against Lomachenko, and 90 per cent of the rounds were close and competitive, I can fight miles better than that.

"Since the fight was put out on social media, it blew up with everyone talking about it. There is a lot of interest in the fight so let's see what the next steps are; we are talking location, dates and numbers. He's a fighter, he's young and has a long career ahead of him but if wants to take this challenge now I'm all game."

And Campbell has no problem with doing that fight behind closed doors.

"I've trained all through lockdown and I'll be ready in six weeks. I'd be happy to do it behind closed doors but it would be a shame for the fans, it will be a cracker of a fight for fans not to be there. If I have to go over to America I will but it would be nice for him to come here - we have the best fans in the world," Campbell said.

Garcia doesn't want this fight, since the wbc called for it he's all of a sudden linked himself to fighting tank davis (which would be a real tough fight to make with all the parties involved). I think he won't…
