Luke Campbell will fight this weekend.
The Hull lightweight has been out of the ring since last September when he lost a challenge to Jorge Linares for the WBA world title.
Campbell, 30, has been ordered to face Yvan Mendy, the man who inflicted his first defeat in the pro code back in December 2015, in a rematch.
The WBC wants the pair to take part in a final eliminator for a shot at Mikey Garcia’s lightweight world title, with the winner getting a world title shot before the end of the year.
But before he faces the Frenchman, ‘Coolhand’ has been confirmed as a late notice addition to Tony Bellew’s heavyweight grudge rematch undercard.
Campbell will fight on the Bellew vs. David Haye bill at the O2 Arena on Saturday, exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office, with the aim to get back to winning ways before facing Mendy.
Mendy has won a further seven fights since beating Campbell and was last in action in December when he defended the WBC Silver title with a knockout victory over Jesus Arevalo.
Campbell’s appearance on the Bellew-Haye II card in London will be flanked by a whole host of talent.
Paul Butler faces Puerto Rican hotshot Emmanuel Rodriguez in a clash for the vacant IBF bantamweight world title with John Ryder clashing against Jamie Cox over 12 rounds in the super-middleweight division.
Martin J Ward defends his European super-featherweight title against WBA International champion James Tennyson in what is being described as a world title eliminator, while Joshua Buatsi returns.
Joe Joyce faces Lenroy Thomas in a challenge for the Commonwealth heavyweight title, Jordan Gill will see action, Kody Davies features and Money Powell IV, the stellar former US amateur with a 6-0 ledger, makes his bow on UK soil.
