Welterweight Wale "Lucky Boy" Omotoso will fight Abraham Alvarez on Thursday night, Goossen Tutor Promotions matchmaker Tom Brown told BoxingScene.com last night.
The 10 round bout will take place at the Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City, a suburb of Los Angeles.
The Nigerian-born Omotoso (24-1, 20 KOs) returned from a 16 1/2 –month layoff on August 1, stopping Eduardo Flores in the eighth and final round in Shelton, Washington.
In his previous bout, Omotoso, who has recently trained at the Wild Card Gym in nearby Hollywood, lost a 10 round unanimous decision to Jessie Vargas on March 16.
Alvarez (17-6-1, 8 KOs) snapped a five-bout losing streak on October 18, when he stopped Luis Rey Campoa in Sinaloa, Mexico.
In an eight-round middleweight bout, Wilky Campfort (18-1, 10 KOs) will fight former contender Richard Gutierrez (28-14-1, 17 KOs). Also added to the card is Fabian Maidana (3-0, 2 KOs), the younger brother of Marcos Maidana.
In the 10 round main event, junior welterweight Haskell Rhodes faces Miguel Angel Huerta (28-12-1, 18 KOs).
This is the first Goossen Tutor Promotions fight card since the passing of longtime promoter Dan Goossen on September 29.
Thirteen bouts are scheduled to take place on the “Live at the Lodge” card.
