Lucas Browne, Ricky Hatton Mend Fences After Online Rant

By Edward Chaykovsky

Heavyweight contender Lucas Browne (19-0, 17KOs), who went five for five in 2013, is frustrated with a lack of activity in 2014. The 34-year-old boxer, who last year defeated James Toney, Richard Towers and Travis Walker, is hoping return on a date in April in the UK. Browne recently took to the social networks to vent his frustration at promoter Ricky Hatton regarding his inactivity and even asked fans for advice on breaking his promotional contract.

Since the online rant, a conversation with Hatton took place and some fences were mended.

"I suppose it was a hissy fit on my part but I felt I was getting messed around. I've just moved back to Sydney, I'm running out of money and I'm still waiting for someone to come up with something."

"That fight with [Solomon Haumono in Melbourne on April 3] is now off. They couldn't agree a deal. Since I went on Twitter I've now been told I could now be fighting for the [commonwealth] title in the UK in April. But it's not clear."

browne didn't need to go to go to social media to have a sit down with hatton. he could have asked to been released or to push for activity. I understand he is frustrated & needs money but there was…

He's clealy a promising guy, but blaming Ricky Hatton seems a bit dumb, rather than rant at him, why's he not promoting himself like a lot of other 'names' in the division. Call out Wilder for his padded record and…

Browne deserves his crack at the Commonwealth tile. He's fought the final eliminator & his management should be pushing the CBC for the contest!
