In possibly the best fight that can be made for boxing fans, Vasyl Lomachenko will defend his World Title on December 9th against fellow double-Olympic gold medallist and World Champion Guillermo Rigondeaux.

Lomachenko is concerned about the credit he will get for beating the smaller Cuban, despite ‘Rigo’ being an excellent technical fighter. He voiced his concerned to Boxing Ukraine in a translated interview.

“[Rigondeaux] is shorter and smaller than I am. No matter how I will lead this fight, I will not win anything in the eyes of the critics. In the eyes of the haters after the fight they will say, ‘Well, who cares if he won [he’s bigger]’.”

‘Hi-Tech’ has become famous for his eye-catching style and desire to win impressively, this is something the Ukrainian wants to continue at the Madison Square Garden Theater. “There are two boxers in the ring. He may do anything he wants in the ring.

“I will try to win colorfully and brightly. I will be boxing my own style. I will be trying and working hard to simply squash him!”

The Ukrainian also briefly touched; upon the future, and his ultimate goal of being pound-for-pound number one: “[To get to number one] the fights I need to have are with Mikey Garcia, Jorge Linares and probably Miguel Berchelt,” he added.
