Frank Warren has revealed that he has signed Lee Selby to a promotional deal.
The IBF featherweight champion retained his world title with a points win last weekend, exclusively live on BoxNation and BT Sport.
Selby outpointed Mexico’s Eduardo Ramirez unanimously at the Copper Box Arena in London on Saturday, as part of Warren’s ‘The Boys Are Back In Town’ card which saw James DeGale lose his IBF super-middleweight title to Caleb Truax.
And promoter Warren, of Queensberry Promotions, said that he and Selby, of Barry, Wales, have a three-fight agreement.
“Yes, that’s right,” Warren said in response to a question regarding the issue from Behind The Gloves.
“The fight with Josh Warrington, we’re getting close to it and we’ll know next week.”
Selby has a mandatory challenger in the shape of Warrington, of Leeds, and the fight is scheduled to happen next.
The champion said that he is willing to travel to Leeds if it makes sense, while Warren told BT Sport last weekend that the fight will be in Yorkshire, but stopped short of confirming the exact location.
Boxing Scene understands the fight between Selby and Warrington, who stopped Dennis Ceylan in a final eliminator for the title back in October, will happen at Elland Road in Leeds, the home of the city’s football club, in early May.
IN OTHER NEWS: Former World kickboxing champion Rachel Ball has warned the competition ahead of her professional boxing debut - “there is nobody like me”.
And the 26-year-old has more than one link to the venue of her first bout - having won fights and titles at Walsall FC’s Banks’s Stadium, which is also the football club where her partner and co-trainer works!
Ball is making the switch from the kickboxing ring to boxing’s squared circle and will top the bill on BCB Promotions’ “Jingle All The Way” show on Sunday, December 17th.
