Lee Purdy's IBF international welterweight title fight with Carson Jones has been re-arranged for March 9 in London.

The Essex banger was supposed to fight the American in December but was forced to pull out a week before the event with a virus.

In the event, Jones - who pushed Kell Brook to the limit in July - took on Ireland's Dean Byrne at the Olympia and struggled to a draw against the late stand-in.

However, promoter Eddie Hearn believes a very different Jones will turn up at Wembley Arena in March.

"He looked average but I don't think he was up for it," he told Sky Sports of the Byrne contest.

"We gave Carson the option to pull out but the team wanted it. It might have been a mistake.

"Dean was brilliant but stylistically (against Purdy) it will be better because the two will come together."

Purdy enjoyed a stellar 2012 with three impressive wins, culminating in a four-round stoppage of Argentinian Gumersindo Carrasco.

The show will also feature the return of Darren Barker as he looks to take another step towards a second world title shot, while the promising Erick Ochieng and John Ryder also figure on the undercard.
