Laszczyk, Piatkowska Win Easy Bouts in Poland

By Alexey Sukachev

Polish featherweight Kamil Laszczyk reminded scribes why he was considered a bona-fide prospect several year ago. Still 28, Laszczyk (26-0, 9 KOs) destroyed Ukrainian no-hoper Pavlo Tryputen (2-5-1) in just three rounds on Friday night at DKB in Dzierzoniow.

That was the main fight of a small card promoted by the Wach Boxing Team.

Laszczyk dropped Tryputen twice in the first two rounds and then got the job done with a vicious liver hook at the end of the third. Nicknamed Szczurek, the Polish fighter was on a high road early into his pro career, which included a unanimous decision over reigning IBF super featherweight champion Tevin Farmer, but then got stuck for various reasons and fought just twice since October 2016.

In a co-main event, WBC female light middleweight champion Ewa Piatkowska (13-1, 4 KOs) easily overwhelmed Hungarian import Kamilla Boka (3-3, 3 KOs) over six in a non-title affair. The sole score was 60-52 – for Piatkowska.

Other results:

Jakub Martys (2-0, 1 KO) TKO 3 Victor Kornienko (2-10, 1 KO)
Vladislav Bilous (1-0) UD 4 Dawid Przybylski (0-1)

IN OTHER NEWS: Boston Boxing Promotions has announced that Revere, Masschusetts' undefeated Travis Gambardella (5-0-2, 2 KOs) will be in action on Friday, August 16, 2019 at “Scars for Scars” – an evening of professional boxing to benefit The Scars Foundation, a charity established by Sully Erna of Godsmack.

Gambardella, who in his most recent outing defeated the previously undefeated Joe Farina at TD Garden on the Demetrius Andrade - Walter Kautondokwa world middleweight championship event, will be taking on an opponent to be announced in Gambardella's first-ever six-round fight. Gambardella is now training with Joe Lake who also trains fellow undefeated fighters Dominic Monzione and Shayna Foppiano. Lake also previously worked with 90's super middleweight contender Dana Rosenblatt.
