After this weekend's stoppage of Jean Pascal in Montreal, light heavyweight destroyer Sergey Kovalev - who has a multitude of championship belts around his waist - must now fulfill his obligation to the IBF. Something that Kathy Duva, the head of Main Events (which promotes Kovalev), has stated they plan to do.

"(Kovalev) has got to do his mandatory against Nadjib Mohammedi and the time frame normally is 90 days but it could end up being a little bit longer if there's a purse bid. But they got 30 days to negotiate,"explained Lindsey Tucker, the IBF Championship Chairman. "According to Kathy Duva it shouldn't be a problem because she's got both guys."

Duva says that HBO is on board with this match-up and she expects Kovalev vs. Mohammedi (37-3, 23KOs) to take place in June or July.
