Korobov to Return on Oct. 24th on Crawford-Jean

By Steve Kim

The last we saw of middleweight Matt Korobov was on December 13th at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas when he was stopped by Andy Lee in the sixth round for the vacant WBO title. Since that point he's been dormant but according to his manager, Cameron Dunkin, he returns to the ring on October 24th in Omaha, Nebraska on the Terence Crawford-Dierry Jean undercard.

"The delay is that they (Top Rank) haven't had anything for him and it's been very frustrating for Matt, for me and for his dad. But they are giving us a fight to get back going again and so we're going to take it in Omaha and go on the 24th and then we've been promised a fight right after that and then hopefully a big fight," Dunkin told BoxingScene.com on Monday.

The 32-year old Korobov, who has a mark of 24-1 (14 KO's) was cruising along versus Lee for the first five round before getting struck by a big right-hook from the rangy southpaw, that hastened his quick and stunning demise. But with the fractured nature of the business and the rather thin middleweight division, Korobov isn't that far off from being right back in the picture.

Dunkin states,"He had won every round on every card and he ran into it and got caught. It happens and he's paid a dear price for it but we just got to get him going again and go win the title."
