Word around the industry is that welterweight Sadam Ali - who's coming off a dominant victory over Luis Abregu in November - could be the co-feature on HBO on the night of April 25th at the Madison Square Garden in New York - when Wladmir Klitschko defends his WBO/IBO/WBA/IBF heavyweight titles against Bryant Jennings.
And the name being thrown around to face Ali is the rugged and fan-friendly Francisco 'Chia' Santana (22-3-1, 11 KO's), who kicked off his 2015 with an eye-opening first round stoppage of the previously undefeated Kendal Mena at the Chumash Casino on ESPN2's Friday Night Fights.
Santana's promoter, Gary Shaw, confirmed they are in the running to land this fight.
Shaw told BoxingScene.com - "Santana, I just think he's a terrific fight. He's a 147 and he had a terrific win over Eddie Gomez who was an undefeated Golden Boy fighter and I believe he's going to land a significant 147-pound fight very soon."
