Kayode Eyes Fall Return, Still Planning Heavyweight Run

By Mike Coppinger

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - caught up with Lateef Kayode at the Wild Card Boxing Club on Wednesday after the former crusierweight contender sparred with a heavyweight Kayode estimated weighed "around 252 pounds."

Kayode told that he indeed plans to move up to heavyweight for his next bout, which he hopes will take place in the fall. The 30-year-old from Nigeria looked far bigger; he says his weight is around 217, 218 pounds.

Kayode (18-0, 14 KOs) said he feels good sparring bigger men and is anxious to return to the ring. He's been out of the squared circle since his bout with Antonio Tarver in June 2012. The bout was originally ruled a draw, but was changed to a no contest after Tarver tested positive for the steroid Drostalolone.
