Kai Robin Havnaa Gets New Opponent For Homecoming Bout

Kai Robin Havnaa (11-0, 9 KOs) will face a new challenge for his homecoming fight on February 3 at the SØR Amfi in Arendal. His scheduled opponent Marino Goles has been ruled out of their ten-round cruiserweight clash with a knee injury and will be replaced by Austrian southpaw Gezim Tahiri (13-3, 7 KOs).

“We received a letter from Marino Goles’ doctor stating he injured his knee and is therefore unable to compete as planned on February 3,” reveals promoter Nisse Sauerland.

“It’s frustrating, but these type of injuries are not unusual in boxing, and we’re happy to have secured a suitable replacement. Gezim Tahiri is a good boxer and will provide a tough test for Kai, who must now prepare for a completely different challenge and style.”

Havnaa says he is pleased his promoter has found a replacement. However, having spent the last two months preparing for Goles, the undefeated 28 year-old must now adapt his training to suit Tahiri's contrasting style and southpaw stance.

“I’m happy we have found such a strong replacement and that the fans in Arendal can still look forward to an exciting fight on February 3,” said Havnaa. “I’ve been training hard to deliver my best ever performance and nothing is going to stop me!

“Tahiri is a good boxer. He is also a southpaw, the first I have faced as a professional, so I will need to change my training and tactics to prepare for his style. Fortunately for me, my stable mate Otto Wallin (Swedish heavyweight) arrives in Arendal later this week and he will be able to provide me with World-class sparring to make sure I’m ready!”

Kai Robin Havnaa headlines an action-packed show against Austrian southpaw Gezim Tahiri on February 3 at the SØR Amfi in Arendal, which will also feature top Norwegian boxers Tim-Robin Lihaug, Kevin Melhus, Simen Nysaether, Hadi Srour, Aron Janhnsen and undefeated German heavyweight Albon Pervizaj.
