Juanma To Vazquez: This Piece of Garbage Will Humiliate You!

By Miguel Rivera

Former world champions Juan Manuel Lopez (34-5, 31 KO's) and Wilfredo 'Papito' Vázquez (24-6-1 and 19 KO's) have not stopped taking shots at each other since their long awaited fight was finalized. The contest was recently rescheduled to October 29th.

Lopez, a former super bantamweight king and WBO featherweight world champion, has not fought since September 2014 when he lost by knockout against Argentina's Jesus Marcelo Andres Cuellar in a battle for the interim WBA featherweight title.

Two months earlier he had lost again, also by knockout, this time to current WBC super featherweight champion Francisco Vargas. Juanma has gone 4-5 in his last nine fights.

Vazquez, meanwhile, former WBA world champion at 122-pounds, made his last fight in December 2015 and lost a split decision to Rafael Rivera, his second loss in a row. Like Lopez, he's 4-5 in his last nine fights.

Their rivalry has been carrying on for at least five years, with both boxers taking shots at each other through the press and social media.

“He has said I am not at his level,” Vazquez said. “That always stayed in my thoughts. Now I get the opportunity to fight him — what I have always dreamed of in my career as a boxer.”

According to Juanma, Vazquez has overstepped his boundaries with very blatant personal attacks.

“You have claimed that I am a piece of garbage but losing to a piece of garbage will be humiliating,” Lopez told Vazquez.

Vázquez Jr. vs. López, a 12-round fight, takes place Saturday, October 29th at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The fight is presented by Black Tiger Promotions, in association with Matias Entertainment, and sponsored by Best Alarms and Municipio de San Juan.  The event will be distributed live on Pay-Per-View in Puerto Rico and the United States beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT.

Tickets are priced at $200 (Red Carpet), $100 (Ring Side), $75 (Palco), $40 (Preference), and $20 (General Admission), not including applicable service charges, and can be purchased at Ticketpop.com, Ticketpop locations (all Walmart stores at the Money Center counter and all Amigo Supermarkets at the Service counter), or by calling 787-294-0001 or toll free 1-866-994-0001.

Lopez by TKO. Hopefully the bad blood translates into a good fight.
