During his most recent episode of Golpe a Golpe, former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez handed out his year-end awards for 2016.
For "prospect of the year" - Marquez handed out the award to Diego De La Hoya, who is the cousin of six division champion and Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya.
For "comeback of the year" - Marquez gave the award to Abner Mares, who finally returned to the ring for the first time in over a year and won a dominant twelve round decision over Jesus Cuellar to win the "regular" WBA featherweight title earlier this month.
For "knockout of the year" - Marquez selected the vicious fifth round knockout scored by Vasyl Lomachenko over Roman 'Rocky' Martinez to capture the WBO super featherweight title in New York City.
For "trainer of the year" - Marquez selected Abel Sanchez, who saw big wins this year for Murat Gassiev, Gennady Golovkin and Denis Shafikov.
For "fight of the year" - Marquez gave it to the twelve round featherweight war between Francisco 'Bandido' Vargas and Orlando 'Siri' Salido - who went to hell and back. The fight ended in a draw.
And for "fighter of the year" - Marquez gave it to two-time Olympic gold medal winner Vasyl Lomachenko - who besides winning the WBO title from Martinez, returned to the ring last month and dominated unbeaten Nicholas Walters until he quit in his corner.
