BoxingScene.com was advised by Ken Thompson, the president of Thompson Boxing, that featherweight contender Juan Carlos Burgos (25-1, 18KOs) will return to action on February 25. The fight is the first for Burgos since last November's decision loss to Hozumi Hasegawa, which took place at the Nihon Gaishi Hall in Nagoya, Japan and had the vacant WBC title at stake.
The fight is likely going to take place in Ontario, California. Thompson is attempting to get Burgos' return on ESPN's Friday Night Fights.
"He's ready to go. The loss didn't really hurt him because he had all of the elements against him. It was a close fight at best. We are going to look to get him a world championship shot this year," Thompson said.
