Jose Felix Jr. is Eager To Return For Battle in Burbank

LOS ANGELES – World title contender and one of Mexico’s brightest rising stars, José ‘Josesito’ Félix Jr. knows that his opportunity to fight for a world title is very close, that’s why the fighter from Los Mochis, Sinaloa, sacrificed himself training during the Christmas festivities and made the adjustments to his preparation that he felt where necessary before the assignment he has in the ring this Saturday, January 30, in the city of Burbank.

Félix Jr., who possesses a record of 32-1-1 and 25 knockouts, will put his winning streak on the line against Philippines’s Ricky Sismundo (30-8-2, 13 KO’s) in a ten-round lightweight bout that will be the main event of the ‘Solo Boxeo Tecate’ card that will be televised this Saturday at 11pm ET/PT by UniMas and will take place at the Marriott Hotel Convention Center in Burbank.

“There were no festivities for me. I sacrificed myself training during the Christmas season and I know that the results will be seen this Saturday in the ring,” assured Felix Jr. “We made some changes in my physical preparation for this fight. I did less chest work and we focused more on strengthening the legs. What we are seeking with this changes is more speed and to be able to throw longer combinations of punches,” revealed the young Aztec fighter.

‘Josesito’ has achieved five wins in a row, with three of those victories by way of knockout, since the first and only defeat of his career, when he fell on April 2014 in a close decision against Costa Rica’s Bryan Vazquez.

Sismundo also enters this fight against Félix Jr. riding a winning streak. The Filipino fighter has won four of his last five scraps.

In the co-featured bout of the card, unbeaten prospect Arnold Barbosa Jr. (9-0, 3 KO’s), from Los Angeles, will face Robbie Cannon (15-11-2, 7 KO’s), from Festus, Missouri, in a six-round super lightweight bout.

Also in action, the 2012 Olympic Champion and Russia’s powerful undefeated prospect Egor Mekhontsev (10-0, 7 KO’s), will clash against Mexico’s Felipe Romero (15-10-1, 9 KO’s) in an eight-round bout in the light heavyweight division.

Presented by Top Rank in association with Bash Boxing, tickets to this Saturday’s ‘Solo Boxeo Tecate’ card in Burbank, California can be acquired on: www.ValleyFightNight.com or by calling (626) 388-8888.
