Former champion Jorge Barrios (49-4, 35KOs) stopped Michael Lozada (33-6, 26KOs) in five rounds to win the vacant WBO Inter-Continental lightweight title at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club in Buenos Aires, Distrito Federal, Argentina.

Barrios started slow but he began to pick up the pace in the third round. In the fourth he began to batter Lozada and further stepped it up in fifth until Lozada's corner threw in the towel. It was the second win for Barrios since being stopped last September by Rocky Juarez.
