All fighters were in shape and within their prescribed weight limits for the Spring season finale of Boxeo Telemundo this Friday in Mexico City.
In the headlining bout of the evening, unbeaten prospect Joebert 'Little Pac Man' Alvarez (13-0-1, 6KO) faces veteran spoiler Julian 'Chicano' Rivera in a scheduled 12-round regional flyweight title bout. Alvarez showed up at a trim and ready 110 lb., while Rivera was right at the 112 lb. divisoinal limit.
The 24-year old Alvarez fights outside of his native Philippines for the first time in his career. The road trip comes in his opponent's hometown, as Rivera has developed a cult following as a local favorite.
"I can't say it enough, this fight is going to be a war," insists promoter Felix 'Tuto' Zabala. "The only thing I don't like about the fight is that it's the last one on Telemundo until the summer. But it will definitely go down as one to remember."
The Telemundo-televised portion of the show airs live at 11:35PM ET/10:35PM local time.
