Jhonny Gonzalez-Elio Rojas in Play For December 10

By Miguel Rivera

There are ongoing discussions to finalize a fight between WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez and former champion/mandatory challenger Elio Rojas. According to Gonzalez's promoter, Reginaldo Kuchle, he wants to stage the fight in Mexico either at the Palace of Sports or the Arena Monterrey, on December 10th.

There are issues preventing the talks at the moment, says Kuchle. Rojas and his team are claiming to be promotional free agents, but promoter Don King is stating otherwise.

"Hopefully the fight between Jhonny and Elio Rojas can be done, but the issue we have here is that Rojas has serious problems with Don King. His representative told us to fix them, but Don King claims the fighter still belong to him. We do not want to get involved with that set of problems. We expect in the coming weeks to finalize this fight, or see if we have to do something else."
