Jeff Lacy's Brother Hunted For Shooting of Police Officers

By Mark Vester

It's been reported by Fox News, among other sources, that Hydra Lacy Jr., the brother of former champion Jeff "Left Hook "Lacy, is the main suspect in this morning's fatal shooting of three law enforcement officers in St. Petersburg, Florida. Hydra Lacy, 39, has a long criminal history, and spent a good part of his life going in and out of prison, according to records obtained by Fox.

He was arrested back in 1988 for grand theft auto, aggravated assault, and resisting arrest and spent more than three years in prison. Not long after his release, he was arrested on several charges, including sexual battery and kidnapping and spent over 15 years behind bars for those crimes. He was released in 2008 and had a few minor arrests here and there. Lacy was also registered as a sexual offender as a result of the 1992 arrest.

What an awful situation. I am a teacher, and the school where I once taught is located just blocks from the shootout. Lacy's family has done a lot in and for the community. It's unfortunate that Hydra had the obvious…
