At the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Jason Litzau  (28-2, 21KOs) pulled off a major upset to win a ten round split decision over Celestino Caballero (34-3, 23KOs) in a super featherweight contest. The scores were 96-94 for Caballero, 96-94 for Litzau and 97-93 for Litzau. Litzau was a 13-1 underdog coming into this fight.

In the first two rounds, the boxers were trading punches. Litzau was giving as good as he got. Caballero was not used to facing a fighter with the same size and reach, and quick hands. Cabllero was a bit frustrated and started trading a lot of punches with Litzau in the third. At the end of the fourth, Caballero started unloading with hard shots.

Litzau came back in the fifth with quick combinations using both hands. Caballero picked up the pace in the sixth by going to war with Litzau, but he was getting caught often and the same pattern followed in the seventh. Caballero went to rally in the eight and ninth rounds, and Litzau answered back with hard punches of his own. Caballero was getting pushed back and the rounds were close.

The tenth and final round was slow, but Litzau put his punches together and was able to rally with some punches at the end to have Caballero backing up.
