Jacobs: I'll Beat Canelo - I'm Faster, Taller, More Range Than GGG

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Danny Jacobs will put their world middleweight titles on the line in a May 4 unification bout, the fighters confirmed last week.

Canelo, who defeated Gennady Golovkin in a rematch last September, is the reigning WBC and WBA middleweight champion. Jacobs holds the IBF's version of the 160-pound title.

Although Jacobs said the fight would take place in Las Vegas, the venue had not been officially confirmed. The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas is said to be the frontrunner.

Confirmation of the fight leaves former champion Golovkin facing a wait until the second half of 2019 before there is any chance of a third fight with Canelo.

Canelo (51-1-2, 35 knockouts) said in a statement the fight against Jacobs will leave him one step closer to becoming the undisputed king of the middleweight division.

If Canelo defeats Jacobs, it will only leave WBO champion Demetrius Andrade standing between him and his goal of taking all four belts.

Canelo has already fought once since wresting away Golovkin's titles with a narrow decision, by demolishing super middleweight Rocky Fielding in New York in December.

Opponents who face Canelo are usually in fear of the judges. In a fight where Canelo was dominated by Floyd Mayweather - one judge scored it a draw. And Golovkin was widely viewed as the winner of his first bout with Canelo, and that bout was scored as a split draw.

"Let's hope the judges are fair. I'm definitely one of the strongest opponents Canelo has faced. 'GGG' is not as fast as me. I am taller, I have more range, and I think I'll win, I'll use my best attributes, and I'll win by decision or even by knockout," Jacobs told

"I am a completely different athlete, I am multifaceted, I do not have to study what Golovkin did (against Canelo), it is not new for me to achieve the impossible, I won the opportunity and I am proud, my legacy is at stake."

I'm hoping he fights Nelo as if he believes in his confidence. Don't be cautious like he was with GGG.
Lara has only himself to blame for that loss. He went from boxing beautifully off the back foot, countering Canelo at will and making him look clumsy to straight up running and not throwing punches. He hadn’t built up enough…
many people thought GGG won both fights, so even if Jacobs has better tools than GGG, he needs to knock out Canelo, but Jacobs isn't a bigger puncher than GGG...
Many people do not know how to score fights also

Why does every black boxer think they are automatically faster. It's something I've noticed. It's weird I think Canelo is faster than jacobs
