San Jose - Heavyweight contender Carl Davis Drumond has been cleared of rape charges after the victim, said to be his housekeeper, withdrew the charges. Drumond appeared in a San Jose court and was interrogated by the sex crimes unit.

It is not the first time that Drumond has been in this sort of trouble. He faced rap charges in 1996 and spent several years in prison. In 2008 he was accused of rape by a prostitute but those charges were dropped due to accuser's inconsistencies in her story.

Drumond says people are trying to go after him because they think he made a lot of money in his last fight with then WBA champion Ruslan Chagaev in February. Drumond faces Chazz Witherspoon on July 31 in Florida.
