HUGHIE FURY says he will not leave his world heavyweight title showdown against Joseph Parker down to judges who can “ruin people’s lives”.
Fury, cousin of former world champion Tyson, was stunned when Saturday’s Las Vegas clash between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin ended in a draw.
Judge Adalaide Byrd has been stood down after turning in a ridiculous scorecard which had Alvarez somehow winning 118-110.
Meanwhile, Parker’s promoter Duco Events have complained after hearing that a British referee and a British judge have been appointed to officiate Saturday’s clash for the WBO heavyweight strap at the Manchester Arena.
But undefeated Fury says he will be leaving absolutely nothing to chance as he plans to take New Zealand’s world champion out before the judges are even required.
He said: “I’ll be taking my own judges with me – my fists. I don’t believe it’s going to go to the scorecards, I don’t feel like there will be any need for the judges because I believe I’m going to knock him out early.
“Judges are judges but people like that [Byrd] shouldn’t even be in boxing. They should be taken straight off and banned.
“Obviously they need a serious pair of glasses. They must be blind as bats. It’s wrong because they are ruining people’s lives aren’t they? It’s devastating.
“The boxer puts in all this hard training and gets a bad result like that, gets stitched up. The best thing to do is just knock them out and then you haven’t got to worry about judges at all.”
Birthday boy Fury, who turned 23 yesterday, has put all celebrations on hold until after Saturday night.
He was even delivered a cake at yesterday’s London press conference – but turned his nose up at it due to his new diet.
Fury added: “I won’t even have any cake because I’m being strict but I could smell it.
“With the diet I’m on I can’t have any sugar and I feel great now, it’s the best I’ve ever felt in my life so I can’t wait to show the people what I can do.
“I haven’t got a single present yet, the only present I want is that WBO belt.”
