Promoter Yvon Michel, who handles WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (24-1, 20KOs), has no doubt that a deal can be reached for a unification with IBF/WBA champion Bernard Hopkins (55-6-2, 32KOs).
Right now the timeline for the anticipated unification is unknown. Stevenson injured his left hand during Saturday's tough twelve round decision victory over Polish challenger Andrzej Fonfara.
"We need to know more about the nature of his injury," Michel said. "When [we know the full details of the injury], I'll sit down with the manager of Adonis, Al Haymon, and the Showtime network, for discussions [to make the fight]. I do not think it will be difficult to set up a clash between Adonis and Hopkins with what happened [on Saturday]."
Stevenson said he injured his hand after hitting Fonfara's elbow.
"I hit the elbow of Fonfara. All I know is right now I am not able to move my thumb. I was in pain with every shot I threw. When this happened, I knew [the fight] would be long, so I had to be smart and strategic."
