Former junior welterweight champion Kendall "Rated R" Holt joined us on the latest edition of The Boxing Lab, BoxingScene's official audio show.  Holt is scheduled to face IBF junior welterweight champion Lamont Peterson on February 22nd in an ESPN Friday Night Fights' televised bout.  Holt told us that he is having a great training camp in California.

"Training is going great.  I have a new team.  My new manager is Marcus Coats.  I am working with the legendary Jesse Reid out here in California.  I have the legendary Shane Mosley helping me out for this fight.  He is my main sparring partner.  I also have the 24-0 Lucky Boy Omotoso who is with Top Rank as well.  Marcus and Jesse have set up great sparring for me,"Holt stated.

The 31-year-old Holt said that he is grateful to get another shot at a title.  He feels that Peterson's team may be overlooking him and that his power will be on full display come fight night.  "Any time you have a change to fight the champion of the world it is a great thing.  I think they forgot that I am one of the hardest hitter in the division, one of the hardest hitters in the game.

"My power and my boxing skills will be on display.  Come February 22nd they will definitely see Kendall Holt's punching power.  I know that he is going to come in shape.  The DC guys always come in shape.  I am in shape too  It is going to be a great fight.  Probably the Fight of the Year," Holt predicted.

Holt said that he is focused on the Peterson fight but admits that there are a lot of big fights that can be made in his weight class.  If he is victorious against Peterson a lot of doors will open up for the Patterson, New Jersey native.

"I really like Marquez.  I like Khan. Those are two fights I am interested in. There are a lot of good fighters in the division.  I am definitely not looking past Lamont Peterson.  We are taking it one step at a time.  After this we will look at making our next move," he revealed.
