Hatley Vows To Bring a "War" To Anthony Mundine

Anthony Mundine's latest opponent also comes from a strong boxing family and is getting ready for a "war" against the Australian veteran.

Texan Charles Hatley 29 (25-1-1, 17 KOs) has come to Australia intent on claiming Mundine's WBC Silver super welterweight title in Melbourne next Wednesday.

Hatley is rated 13th, nine spots below Mundine.

"I'm a warrior and I'm coming to fight a war," Hatley told AAP on Friday.

"He (Mundine) is a great fighter and he's coming to fight, just like me."

All of Hatley's professional fights have been in the United States but he fought in several countries during a long amateur career, during which he won a national welterweight title.

Mundine 40, is clearly his best credentialled professional opponent and the Australian has also faced a far better calibre of opposition.

Hatley is acutely aware of just how significant a fight it is in the context of his burgeoning career.

"It is big for me, I want to show I'm one of the best in the world," Hatley said.

Mundine is the son of former middleweight world title contender and multi Australian title-winner Tony Mundine but Hatley also has strong boxing bloodlines,

He said his father and uncle were boxers while his older brother Greg is a professional cruiserweight with a handy 12-1 record.

Mundine, Daniel Geale, Billy Dib and Vic Darchinyan are among the top level boxers who will have professional exhibition bouts on December 6 in a tribute to Sydney fighter Davey Browne, who died in September, four days after suffering injuries in a contest.

All profit raised from the show at Ottimo House in Denham Court southwestern Sydney will go to Browne's widow Amy and her children.
