Eric Gomez, the President of Golden Boy Promotions, views WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (39-0, 38 KOs) as the best fighter in his division.

Wilder is approaching the toughest fight of his career, when he faces Cuban banger Luis Ortiz on March 3rd at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Wilder was promoted for the better part of his career by Golden Boy, before branching out with manager Al Haymon and the Premier Boxing Champions banner in January of 2015, after capturing the world title from Bermane Stiverne.

One of the biggest fights to be made in the sport is a unification between Wilder and IBF, IBO, WBA champion Anthony Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs) of the UK.

Joshua will first attempt to add another title to resume, when he faces WBO champion Joseph Parker on March 31 at Principality in Cardiff, Wales.

Should both boxers win their upcoming fights, they will be in line to face each other in a major unification encounter at the end of the year.

"I think the most talented fighter in the heavyweight division is Deontay Wilder. He's tall, 6'7, he's pretty lanky, he's filled out now, he's very strong. It's a shame that he hasn't been able to get any big fights, but he's ready now. When he gets that jab going, I don't think anybody can beat him, I really don't," Gomez told Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports.

"I'm a big Anthony Joshua fan, he's really exciting. He should get past Parker, but he's going to have a lot of trouble with Wilder. I think Deontay beats him. Hopefully that fight can get done. Talent-wise,  Deontay is very talented and this is a kid who could have been a pro basketball player. He's a kid who is very athletic and very talented, and once he gets that jab going there is nobody that can beat him".
