Gilberto Ramirez Sanchez (28-0) had a successful Las Vegas debut on April 12th when he stopped Giovanni Lorenzo in 5 rounds. The fight served as the main event of ESPN's Friday Night Fight card that took place on the eve of the Manny Pacquiao-Tim Bradley pay-per-view event.

Ramirez dominated the fight and had Lorenzo hurt on several occasions. He said that he was surprised the fight wasn't stopped earlier. Lorenzo's corner ended up throwing in the towel to halt the fight.

"I was surprised that the ref didn't stop the fight earlier so he didn't take so much punishment. I thought I hit him a lot but I just stayed in there and kept doing my job," Ramirez told BoxingScene.com while also saying that he enjoyed fighting in the boxing capital of the world.

"I really liked fighting in Las Vegas.  I learned a lot from this fight and I will keep advancing with my career."

Even though he already has 28 professional fights and has been scheduled for strictly 10 round fights since 2010, Ramirez is still only 22 years old. The Mazatlan, Sinaloa native feels that he is ready to step up his competition and would line to fight for a title in his next fight.

"I have to sit down with my team and see what is next.  I think I am ready for the big fights now.  I am ready to fight for a title.  I am ready for Sakio Bika or Julio Cesar Jr.  Who ever is next I am ready for," said Ramirez.
