Gilberto Ramirez Pumped To Make His Debut on HBO

By Ryan Burton

Undefeated super middleweight prospect Gilberto Ramirez Sanchez (28-0) is excited to be making his HBO and Macau debut on July 19th against Junior Talipeau. The fight takes place at the Cotai arena at the Venetian Resort and will be televised on HBO2.

BoxingScene.com recently spoke to Ramirez and Hector Zapari, who  manages and trains Ramirez along with his father Jesus. Zapari said that their training camp at The Rock Boxing Club has been great so far.

"Gilberto feels really good. We are in Carson, California doing our training camp, getting good sparring sessions. We had great pre-training back in Matzatlan (Mexico)," said Zapari.

Ramirez said that he doesn't know a lot about Talipeau but that he is excited to make his debut on HBO and in front of a different group of fans in Macau. He hopes that a spectacular performance will lead to even bigger fights.

"I am very happy to fight in Macau. It's a good opportunity for me. It is going to be like my premier with HBO and if I do well great things will come for the team.

"We don't know much about my opponent but we know the basic things about him. He likes to fight inside and he has a good record and had good amateur career. I am training hard as always. I have dreamt about getting the opportunity to fight on big networks like HBO and I am even more motivated to do well in this fight," Ramirez told BoxingScene.com.

Interested to see Ramirez going forward. I'm not completely sold on him as an elite level prospect, but he should make for some good fights in the future.
