At La Cubierta, Leganes in Comunidad de Madrid, Spain, former WBA light heavyweight champion Gabriel Campillo (20-3, 7 KOs) returned for the first time since being robbed in a rematch with Beibut Shumenov in January, to crush Luzimar Gonzaga (28-6) in the first round.

Campillo's will now wait for the winner of Shumenov's title defense against Vyacheslav Uzelkov, scheduled for July. Campillo is promoted by Sampson Boxing, who filed a petition with the WBA to get him another shot at the title after the Shumenov loss.

WBC/WBO middleweight champion Sergio Martinez and the retired Javier Castillejo were at the event. Castillejo was honored earlier that night for his boxing achievments.
