Frank Warren: Fury Has Gotten Into Wilder's Head

By Frank Warren, courtesy of The Daily Star

TYSON FURY got under Deontay Wilder’s skin this week and he has the WBC heavyweight champion rattled ahead of their blockbuster battle on December 1.

This week we went on the road together to promote the biggest heavyweight fight of the year.

It was a lot of fun and here’s my diary of a whirlwind three days:

MONDAY - London

The BT Sport studios were all set up for a big announcement press conference to kick-off the tour.

But it didn’t take long for the two main men had to be pulled apart as tempers flared.

I ended up in the middle of it all trying to keep them from coming to blows as presenter Paul Dempsey called on me to get them sit down.

That wasn’t an easy task – I might have to stick an invoice in for security services!

People have been saying that it was all set up and the hate is fake but let me tell you we didn’t want that happening.

My main concern was one of them getting cut as they went head-to-head or someone throwing a punch that would have got us in big trouble.

TUESDAY – New York

Thankfully there were no more shenanigans as the pair jumped on flights to America for the next leg of the tour.

What a scene that was on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier, USS Intrepid.

There was plenty of artillery on show but the real bombs were landed by Fury as he verbally battered Wilder yet again.

There was a picture doing the rounds on social media of the pair sitting on a sofa together and many said this was proof all the vitriol between them was staged.

But the truth is that they were in a small TV studio waiting to go on air and security had warned them to keep calm, much to Fury’s annoyance.

WEDNESDAY – LA

By the time we reached the city where the fight will he held, Wilder was so wound up by Fury.

The tension between them caused chaos on the stage as people went tumbling amid the fracas.

Fortunately, even at my age, my feet were as nimble as a flyweight’s to get me out of the way of the melee.

Fury has got into Wilder’s head, everyone now knows the fight is definitely happening and the punters can’t wait for it.

***********

No rest for the wicked though as we stage a big show tonight in Leicester.

Nicola Adams is in title action, a thrilling domestic dust-up between Jack Catterall and Ohara Davies is on the card, while the future heavyweight king Daniel Dubois takes another step up the ladder.

I thought Wilder lost it when he started screaming "there is only one bronze bomber" which Fury picked up on right away and accuse him of stealing his line. Some people you cannot out talk them, for example if Wilder…

I don't think Wilder is that strong mentally to be honest. He is clearly uncomfortable with Fury taking centre stage at the pressers etc. Wilder KNOWS he may be exposed by Fury - and I think that he has some…

[QUOTE=JWHardin;19193931]You seem to think Fury is a fantastic boxer? lmao. He looks awkward and clumsy, so the chance he embarrasses Wilder is slim. Wilder is a total different fighter than Wlad, who hesitated way too much because of Fury's stupid…
