BILLY JOE SAUNDERS proved once again he fears nobody by agreeing to face Demetrius Andrade in his own backyard.
The WBO middleweight champion will defend his title against the American across the Atlantic in October.
We came to a deal with Andrade’s promoter just five minutes before we were about to enter purse bids to stage the fight.
There were no issues agreeing a deal as it was in the best interests for us to take it rather than enter the purse bid.
It was the right offer for our man so we took it, even though we were ready to win the right to stage the fight.
Saunders proved when he outboxed David Lemieux in Canada last year that he is capable of winning on the road.
Now he will show it again when he travels to America to take on Andrade.
There was never any doubt that Saunders would give up his title rather than face the US fighter.
Why would he? This is the title he earned and he is more than capable of beating any challenger in the division.
Some might say we should have got the fight over here in the UK for him.
But now Saunders gets a big pay day while also getting the chance to add to his reputation on the other side of the Atlantic.
It is a win for all involved and once he comes through it then we will have him back fighting in the UK again.
Tonight Dillian Whyte faces off against Joseph Parker at the O2 in London and I think the New Zealander will come out on top.
It is an interesting fight as they try to get in line for a rematch with Anthony Joshua.
This has the ingredients to be a good fight but it is certainly not good enough to be on pay-per-view.
