That tourist industry gets a lot of tax cuts and breaks. Sometimes that money you pay for room doesn't even come on to the island when you do business with the big hotel chains. You purchase your room online and that money goes to probably a bank account in America. So sometimes my little island doesn't see or smell that money.
I agree on the crime. It has prevented me from starting other businesses. I don't believe tourism alone can turn Jamaica into a first world nation.
