  • Comments Thread For: Lou DiBella: I'm Behind Sergio Martinez, I'd Rather See Him Stay Retired

Lou DiBella is supporting Sergio Martinez in his comeback fight, even if he has no intention of seriously promoting him in the ring again. The 45-year-old Argentinian and former middleweight titleholder will fight for the first time since his 2014 knockout loss to Miguel Cotto on Aug. 21 in Cantabria, Spain against Jos Miguel Fandio (15-6, 8 KO).

I hope he stays retired too. I think he was definitely an overachiever in his career even his physical was at its best. Now without the physical and without fundamentals to begin with he's nothing but a sitting duck.

They better match him against a complete bum who just picked up boxing or this is gonna end in a disaster

Martinez should have retired after the Murray fight. The knee injury he got in the previous fight against Chavez jr ruined him

Chavez jr the ganja kid effectively ruined Martinez's career

Lou DiBella must be the last honest guy in boxing.

If Sergio is serious, Lou Dibella should get Arum to match him with Ryota Murata for the WBA belt. Make it a one and done deal for old times sake. After Sergio goes through training camp hell, and then life and limb with a guy he would have smoked in his prime Sergio will gladly go back to acting.

            Mission accomplished.

He was never that great to begin with. He was solid and capable, but I hope he doesn’t have any delusions of going after a title.

I agree and I believe that's why he's been shafted a few times over the years. Nice guys finish last in business

                  Just stay retired
Really no need to see him comeback
He’ll never get to what he was so can’t see this as being a successful comeback

GGG fought all his leftovers and nobody had any problems with that he was pretty avoided at 154 that's why he had to move up to 160 where he was always the smaller guy still had a nice style and was always in entertaining fights his knees starting giving out before he even fought Chavez but that should have been the end of it at least he got his payday against Cotto though.
