Technically Chris Eubanks Jr is going back down to 160. And Canelo's team already alluded to it being difficult to make it back to middleweight. So Mungia, Williams, Eubanks and any 160lber who isn't planning to move up is not an option.

My guess is that Gennady Golovkin won't be the option. He's going to be fighting the last week of February or early March. I don't think he's of the age where he'd be ready to turn around and go through another camp in time for a fight in the first week of May.

I am thinking it will be someone you forgot. David Lemieux is moving up to 168 if memory serves me correctly. He'd be an easy mark to make sure Canelo is comfortable at the weight again and he is promoted by Golden Boy.

Good info. I think he'll be back at MW. But the question is who do you want to see him fight next (what weight it's fought at is secondary, ya know).

Who do YOU WANT to see Canelo fight next???
Not asking for a prediction on who they will give him.

          Is Lemieux who you'd pick?

Oh he absolutely isn't who I'd pick. If going back down to 160 isn't an option I would like him to take on Callum Smith next. He's the top rated 168lber.

Edit...the more I think about it the more I would prefer to see him fight Billy Jo Saunders. I think his more mobile boxing style might give Canelo problems. Plus if he beats Saunders Canelo would have beaten all three guys who were longtime middleweight champions in recent years. It would cement that he was the best middleweight of that era.

I wanna see Canelo fight Callum Smith next.

If Canelo beats Smith he’d legitimately be a champion in 3 different weight classes at the same time.

I think it’s funny how the people that don’t consider Canelo’s WBA Regular title at 168 legit do consider Golovkin’s title defenses streak at 20 legit even though he only had the WBA Regular title for a bunch of them.
