  • REPORT: Canelo-Kovalev fight to be announced Friday

    Update Sept 13:

    Done!

    UPDATE SEPT 9:

More drama? Is all this back and forth an attempt to draw some hype, or is nothing actually been confirmed?

    UPDATE SEPT 8:

At 175 and not at a CW? Great if so, but what about rehydration?

Canelo Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev being finalized for November 2

WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (34-3-1, 29 KOs) and Saul Canelo Alvarez (52-1-2, 35 KOs) are finalizing their fight for November 2 on DAZN in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their management have been in negotiations a while now working on putting together the fight. There is expected to be an announcement this coming week about the Canelo-Kovalev fight, according to @MikeCoppinger.

Legit source? I guess we will find out soon...

BSO sources tell us that a deal between Canelo Alvarez and Sergey Kovalev has been completed and an announcement will be forthcoming likely on Friday.
It was just a matter of time after Kovalev survived a scare in his last fight.

Kovalev didn’t want to fight in November, but the money was just too much to turn down. Kovalev will likely make over $10 million. Canelo is guaranteed $32 million.

Canelo will be trying to win a title in a 4th weight division and will be going up two weight classes to try to get it.

Haven't seen another source on this, but going off this source alone, it's never good having a fighter go into a fight that he doesn't want. If Kovalev is doing it solely for the money, he's definitely cashing out.

And that’s why Canelo is p4p numero uno.

MF wouldn’t fight Chavez Jr. without a rehydration/weight clause lmfao

I don't rate a win over a weight drained opponent, catchweights are the domain of the rich A-side. The fans get the fight they were looking for and the A-side gets the cash. It's a hoodwink.

Lomachenko vs Anthony Joshua at 130 pounds, who wins? I'd bet my life savings on Loma, I'd take myself over a 130 pound AJ too.

If Canelo actually does this with no catches, respect. But, that's just not how the dude operates so my hopes are low.
