  • Did Frank Warren withdraw Zolani Tete in order to keep a belt away from DAZN/Hearn?

I know that the official story is that Tete suffered a shoulder injury. Which is why Donaire had to fight a substitute yesterday.

But with DAZN having bought the U.S. rights to the World Boxing Super Series would anyone put it past Warren (and by extension Bob Arum) to pull Tete out so they can keep control of a world championship and prevent a rival from getting their hands on it?

I definitely wouldn't past him. But the threats that were made to Baranchyk, trying to leave, lawyers and all, makes me think its legit. They could be lawyering up as we speak though, just haven't heard about it.

Have we seen any X-rays or medical reports of Tete's injury?

He holds the WBO belt. I don't see Warren or Arum wanting to risk losing it to Hearn and DAZN.

How much would have been paid to Tete’s camp to satisfy taking away bread from his family?

Do we have any reason to doubt Tete being injured besides his link to Warren?

Thats the first thing worth considering. As to Warren, or any promoter, I don't need to be convinced they steer their fighters to decisions that benefit themselves over the fighter so if Tete does come to be proven to not been injured it'd come to no surprise to me if Warren's footprints are around that decision. Seems like we are still far off from concluding Tete wasn't injured is the thing.

I wouldn't consider that proof of Tete's injury.

THAT said I say the onus is on proving Tete's injury wasn't legit or fake than proving his injury is real to anyone making these kinda suggestions.

                  Nope.

The only reason I bring up some doubt is because of the relationship between Warren, Arum, and the WBO. And the rivalry for customers between ESPN+ and DAZN.

                  The injury could be legit.

He was going to let BJS fight a Hearn fighter on DAZN. Sky Sports picked up the WBSS which would've meant more exposure for one of his lesser known fighters in a fight he was favored to win. Donaire isn't signed to Hearn. It makes no sense for him to pull him out
