So Ward rallied against Kovalev in second half, got decision. GGG did the same...

    HBO commentators are such hypocrites.

In the first Kovalev-Ward fight, they kept on saying how Kovalev started on strong, got the KD, but Ward rallied in the second half and deserved the nod.

Canelo started better, GGG was dominant from the 5th round on, but now they pull a different narrative.

Ahh suddenly Canelo deserves it because he was making GGG back away somewhat? Hell, in this case GGG deserved to win the first fight at least 10-2, if not 12-0.

I saw a similar type rally as Ward/Kov. Esp for the fact that Canelo looked like ass when he gassed and the precision and power that won him the early rounds just wasn't there.
Like Ward, GG stayed consistent and focused, and I thought he won the fight. I was really surprised at the judge's decisions tonight. Really surprised.

So stalking is the new standard? GGG should have won the first fight at least 10-2 then.

Again GGG threw and landed more, but suddenly it’s Canelo’s more come forward approach that makes him deserve the nod?

The sad thing is I wasn’t surprised. I would have been more surprised if GGG was given his just due.

Its just like why all major sports have multiple view replays for the officials and clearly defined rules...fans want consistency. One fight he gets penalized for stalking, next fight he gets dinged for not stalking. I see the OP's point, Ward came back from a bigger deficit and won with more close rounds than GGG's last half. Great fight and unfortunately because of how the sport is, plenty of controversy to follow.

If the fights weren't exactly identical, you can't use one to excuse the other.
