Comments Thread For: Bivol: It's Hard To Make Excitement With Guy Avoiding Fighting

ATLANTIC CITY Dmitry Bivol said after beating Isaac Chilemba on Saturday night that one of his ultimate boxing goals is to have fans remember him. The hard-hitting light heavyweight champion convincingly beat Chilemba, but his methodical performance mostly was forgettable on the Sergey Kovalev-Eleider Alvarez undercard at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino's Etess Arena.

He should jump down to 168. Not a lot of big money fights for him here. He's got Zurdo, Benavidez, and that other hispanic dude in that weight class. All big money fights.

True..I kind of think it's Whack that Chilemba doesn't really try to win fights as he is supposed to be a contender. He'll fight for a few rounds and then throw enough punches just to keep the fight going.

This is what you get when you sign to fight Chilemba. He stinks up the joint and it is hard to look good against him. I'm just shocked that HBO keeps bringing him on their network.

This guy is not jumping down to 168. He is a natural 175, and he will get used to the division. Chilemba has been making poo poo fights since I started watching him on ESPN almost a decade ago. He is just hard as hell to hit. Moreover, he can't crack an egg. He loaded up a few times and blasted Bivol, but it did nothing. He was going for the homerun after round 6.
Bivol will do much better against other opposition. He needs to practice that double left hook more. It was working upstairs downstairs when he used it. With a better trainer, he could have had him out of there. Hats off the RJJ in the corner keeping his guy focused, but game in a losing effort.

I agree. Chilemba is one of those awkward, survivor types who can take a punch. I was surprised that Bivol signed for this one. Figured he wouldn't look great against Chilemba.

Maybe if Bivol could cut off a ring or not get tied up so easy. Bivol is looking limited and instead of thinking of a fix, he's blaming Chilemba. It will only get harder. If only Chilemba had a punch to go with his slickness, Bivol would be complaining of a lot worse.

Chilemba did wanna fight. Bivol spent long stretches not throwing a single punch in a quite a few rounds.

Maybe Chilemba is just a good fighter.
