Post Comments Thread For: Illusions of Grandeur: Malignaggi, McGregor and Mayweather

By Tris Dixon - IT was author Arthur Koestler who once said that nothing is sadder than the death of an illusion. The illusions we have been presented with in the last 24 hours are a couple of brief clips of a recent sparring session between retired former boxer and two-weight world champion Paulie Malignaggi and UFC superstar Conor McGregor. Well, the American claims the evidence' released by UFC bigwigs does not tell...

I think as much as anything, the McGregor camp as desperately trying to convince themselves of this illusion. That's what it seems like anyway.

It shows a tremendous amount of inexperience to become embroiled in this kind of public row with a sparring partner 2 weeks out from a fight. Their focus has been on getting the better of Paulie more than fighting Floyd Mayweather.

I personally still think the weight is going to affect Conor. I've not heard any noise out the camp other than he's going in at over 170lbs, which must mean that's his weight now and he's going to hope to shed water weight in the week before the fight. He looks massive for 154. It's gotta hurt him to come down.

I don't know if I'll see this fight live, but I'll enjoy to see either one of this a$$holes get beat up.

What will help McGregor is that he doesn't box like a conventional boxer and probably does a few odd things and maybe switches stances a lot. I'm not saying he'll win but anything he does that is out of the ordinary could be good for him, as long as within the rules. And he'll go for it, unlike Canelo and guys like Guerrero just waiting for something to happen. At least that part is likely exciting.

McGregor’s nutritionist said Speed, lower weight is key against Mayweather

“I want him actually walking in close to weight the week of the fight. Walking in, weighing in and maybe gaining a couple pounds after that.”

I wasn't sure weather i believed floyd or not but that article makes it seems like he might be in the know. He still look big for the weight tho, but he looks quite a bit smaller than he did on the press tour, the face is the most notable.

Spend your money on the GGG vs Canelo fight not this carnival rip off. This is an absolute joke!! You have the best runner in boxing fighting a wwe wanna be. Don't get ripped off by the phony media they are releasing from both camps. This road race won't even be entertaining. Mayweather will do what he always does and run all night and after the first round it will be apparent Conor has no chance. What a con job for the dim wits

WHAT illusion is this writer talking about??????? Did this writer not watch the clip????

I think now would be a good time to scan these boards, and see who among us actually has an "eye" for the sweet science, and those that don't!

If you watched the clip of McGregor vs pauli, and didn't immediately start lol at McGregor's lack of boxing ability, then you couldn't spot a sweet scientist if he walked up and punched you in the nose!

And McGregors chance of being so unorthodox that he confuses fraud is 1 in a million.

If there was any decent degree of probability of that happening, then strongmen with a big punch would be making it to the top of boxing and making millions all the time.

A little boy with his chemistry set, isn't going to confuse Steven Hawking.

They don't call this sport the sweet science for nothing
