Default Ray Leonard, or Howard Davis Jr, who had the faster hands?

Ray was known for his hand speed, and so was Howard. In the 1977-1982 time frame, who had the faster hands?

Ray did. Davis was content to spray fast bursts that landed on a guy while Ray was able to unleash combos that went through a guy.

Davis won the outstanding boxer award at more tournys than anyone I know of! As an amatuer he was the fastest boxer in the country at that time and that includes Leonard! Davis won outstanding at the Olympics and if I remember correctly was the team captain.
In three rounds speed is a tuff element to deal but in the pros he actually did very well and I didn't think his style was going to translate to the pros at all.
The big gun in the amatuers then was Prior but his style wasn't favored for the Olmpics so he didn't get a real deal from judges as it neared. Tyson style was another no no for the international scene were Davis was perfect. Straight up in & out with laterials and lightening quick! Ray.
