Default If Canelo Wins, does he face a lack of Future PPV Worthy Opponents?

If Canelo beats GGG on Saturday, he may struggle to find future PPV Worthy Opponents

At Middleweight:

Billy Joe Sauders: has the IBF Belt but if Canelo drops the WBC belt then that takes away any reason to fight him to get all the Belts!

Jermall Charlo: If Canelo doesn't have WBC Belt, he definitely won't be fighting Charlo any time soon.

Daniel Jacobs: Would make sense to fight Jacobs who does have some type of name to him.

At Light Middle:

Miguel Cotto: Most Likely next opponent for Canelo if he wins...or even loses.

Erislandy Lara: No chance of this rematch ever happening.

The rest at 154 are just not big enough names or are signed with Haymon/PBC

Canelo won't be moving up to face any Super Middleweight and there's no big names for him there either.

All the BIG NAMES in Boxing are at 147lbs like Thurman, Spence, Garcia and Porter but doubt any of them are moving up to 160lbs any time soon.

Good observation. There aren't too many money fights left between 154 - 168 for Canelo. If he is willing to travel overseas he may be able to land a big payday against Saunders or Eubank Jr. Maybe even DeGale.

There can also be a Mexican rivalry built up between Canelo and Ramirez at 168. But that will take some time to market and generate interest.

At 154 there is not much to go back to. I don't even think a rematch with Cotto is all that compelling. He beat him by a wide margin, and he walked through Cotto's best punches. No one cares about Lara, and the bigger Charlo at 160 is high-risk/low-reward. Jacob's can be interesting but not a big event.

I see Canelo retiring before the age of 30.

If Canelo wins he will be a big draw. Im not saying he will sell 1 million PPV buys.
But if he wins, his PPV numbers will be around 500k for sure.

Mexican fight fans are great and they support their fighters.

A possible fight could be against Demetrius Andrade.

Canelo is a fighter who fights on PPV now. It is very hard to sell a PPV fight when it is overseas.
I dont think he will fight in the UK.

Gilberto Ramirez is with Top Rank, they have an deal with ESPN now.
Dont know if he can fight on HBO.

If Jacobs get 1-2 wins he will be a oppenent for Canelo I think.

And I dont thnik so. He makes to much money to retire in what?
3-4 years?

No, because if canelo wins, he will be a legit true superstar like Tyson, Oscar, Floyd, manny and any fight against a legit guy will be an event..

If he wins, his big fights will be
Golovkin rematch
Saunders for the U.K. money
Jacobs

You forgot to add Andrade. He's moving up to 160 and supposedly working on a deal with HBO

Boxing ppv in the u.s is pretty much dead after ginger-golovkin. Even the rematch and rubber match might not be that high

Define a "PPV quality opponent." When you're the star, nearly every fight is worthy of being a PPV event. I mean, was Liam Smith a big name to you?

If Canelo wins he'll build on already marketable brand. With a PPV record on his resume and a win over Golovkin, he'll be on top of the boxing world. He could fight almost anyone and do well.

I think I read somewhere that Canelo owes HBO a regular fight (not on PPV)

So his next fight probably won't be on PPV
